Legislators Visit PBIS Schools
April 2007

The Illinois PBIS Network has seen an excellent response to the letters sent to Illinois legislators in January, 2007. To date, eight Illinois State Senators and Representatives have visited local PBIS schools in their districts and more visits are scheduled. Legislator Letter Campaign
February 2007

In January 2007, legislators across the state received letters fromt he Illinois PBIS Network thanking them for their support of the FY 2007 Illinois State Budget, and for the funding that the Ilinois Children's Mental Health Partnership received that initiated Illinois' commitment to linking children's mental health services with safe and effective schools.  At the time, the approximately 600 Illinois schools implementing PBIS benefited from this legislation, as well as other schools requesting the support of our PBIS Network. We also encouraged legislators to visit PBIS schools in their areas.   To date, several Illinois State Senators and Representatives have visited local PBIS schools in their districts.  In addition, U.S. Congressman Phil Hare visited Monmouth-Roseville Junior High in Roseville.  All of these legislators have been able to see first hand the positive effects PBIS can have on school climate and student performance.
