School/District Recognition Process



In an effort to acknowledge the hard work, commitment, and progress that schools are achieving in relation to PBIS implementation, the Network has instituted a recognition process for the 2006-07 school year.  Schools that attain implementation and sustainability status through measurable criteria at the Universal, Secondary, and Tertiary levels and districts who integrate sustainability functions into their district structures will be recognized.  Education officials, community leaders, legislators, and local media representatives will be invited to participate in recognition celebrations at the school and district levels.

Categories of Recognition for Schools

  • Start-Up: Beginning the process of School-wide (SW) PBIS Implementation.
  • Emerging: Building the foundation for SWPBIS implementation.
  • Implementing: Maintaining the SW PBIS foundation and building the foundation for Secondary Level Interventions.
  • Fully Implementing: Sustained School-wide PBIS Implementation, maintaining Secondary Level Interventions and building the foundation for Tertiary Level Interventions.

In addition, districts also have the opportunity to be recognized as:

  • Self-Sustaining: Building the foundation for district-level PBIS sustainability with a commitment to PBIS structures such as coaching, training, leadership and evaluation.

Recognition of progress for designated categories for includes:

  • Emerging:  Schools that score 80/80 on the SET receive a letter from the PBIS Network.
  • Implementing:  Schools receive letter of achievement from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) State Superintendent of Schools.
  • Fully Implementing:  Schools receive letter of achievement from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) State Superintendent of Schools, a letter to respective state legislators and a press release to local newspapers.
