School/District Recognition Criteria

All schools implementing PBIS will be classified on Phases of Implementation each quarter.  These classifications will be completed by the assigned Illinois PBIS Network Technical Assistance Coordinator in collaboration with building/district coaches.  This data will help guide our on-going training and technical assistance to Illinois PBIS Schools.

Annually, these classifications will be reviewed to see which schools qualify for “Start-Up”,  “Emerging”, “Implementing”, “Fully Implementing”, or “Exemplar” status.  District data will be reviewed to identify those that qualify as “Self-Sustaining”.

Start-Up – Below or at Universal Phase I.

Emerging – 80/80 on SET and at least Phase II Universal.

Implementing – Universal Phase II or higher + Secondary Phase I or higher.

Fully Implementing – Demonstrates implementation at all three levels.  Universal Phase III, Secondary Phase II and Tertiary Phase I.  Completes the EBS Self-Assessment Survey annually.

Exemplar – Two years of discipline data shows evidence that 80% of students have responded positively to Universal behavior supports (includes all students). Demonstrates AYP and/or demonstrates significant academic gains of students or Secondary-level intervention data with Secondary group(s) of students.  Meets or has evidence of progress toward State Performance Plan for Educational Environment targets.  Eighty percent of the items are in place on all four sections of the EBS Survey, Universal Phase III, Secondary Phase III and Tertiary Phase II.

Self-Sustaining – District has developed local capacity and training ability as per the Self-Sustaining Checklist.
